Community Initiatives
Day of Caring
United Way of Burlington County assesses the needs of non-profit organizations and matches volunteers from all sectors with appropriate projects. Each year corporations, service clubs and families engage in community service activities to help and support non-profit agencies in activities ranging from hosting fun social activities for group homes to construction of affordable housing.
NJ FamilyCare
NJ FamilyCare is the State of New Jersey's way of providing affordable health coverage for kids and qualifying low-income parents. United Way of Burlington County received grant money to educate the townships in the county about this program. In turn, many lower income, uninsured families were alerted to this benefit and now receive affordable health insurance both for themselves and their children.
Code Blue
The “Code Blue” program in Burlington County guarantees free shelter to the homeless in temporary shelters when temperatures dip below freezing. Code Blue budget is often stretched to its limit during several consecutive days of Code Blue being declared during the winter. To help ease this growing strain, foundations support the Blue Program via United Way of Burlington County. Generous grants help ensure Code Blue’s continued growth as a crucial means of support for our county’s homeless.
